New Album Title Unveiled...Song Samples Up! Plenty of shows this week!

Hello Friends,

It's been an exciting week in the SEB camp!  We've finally decided on a title for our new album project...After countless hours of pondering (and coming up with some silly names like Not Just Another Floating Head and No Autotune Necessary), we have finally decided to go with the title "The Red Letter Days". It really struck a chord with all of us and has some cool connotations...

For those of you that don't know the history of the phrase, here we go... "Back in the day" (aka back when Eric actually had hair), special dates on the calendar such as anniversaries and religious holidays were marked on the calendar in large red ink so that everyone could see them.  These events were often referred to as "Red Letter Days".  We thought the name of the album was appropriate because it is a really special time for us now. We can't wait to get the record out to the public next month...

We took some really great photos last weekend up at the Museum Club in Flagstaff and we're probably going to use some of them inside the album cover. Artwork for it is coming along really well, and of course I have written a 20 page novel of thank yous :-)  OK, so maybe it's only about 15 pages, so it's more of a chapter than a novel, but who is counting?  The album artwork is in process and the mastering should be happening later this week, so it's definitely starting to come together.

We wanted to give everyone an odea of what we've been working on, so we put together a few snippets of songs from the new album and posted them up on our website media player. When you get a moment, please give them a listen and let us konw what you think. We can't wait to get the whole project finished and out on the record store shelves (and on iTunes, etc.)

As soon as we get the mastered songs sent back to us, we'll definitely be sending all of our email list members a free download code for one of the songs...We're not quite sure which one to send yet, because we're still trying to figure out our favorite :-)  If you haven't already, please take a moment to sign up on our mailing list and we'll be sure to get you a download code for one of the tunes...

We're all getting REALLY excited for the release of the album!

This week is going to be a busy one for all of us. We have four shows lined up starting on Thursday...Here are the details:

Thursday night, we are headed to Gila River Casino...No, Brandon didn't just win the lottery and he's taking us all out...We're going to be playing a show in the lounge to get the weekend started a little early...We're going to be at the new Wild Horse Pass Casino on the I-10 near the old Compton Terrace (may it R.I.P....Many fond memories of tha music venue!). If you're on the 10 headed for Tucson or up from the south, you can't miss the HUGE sign for the casino :-)  It should be a fun little evening and we're looking forward to it. We might have to get into a heated game of Bingo or Tiddly-Winks with some of the locals...Ha ha!

Friday and Saturday night, we're paying a visit to the original SEB Fan Club Buckeye Chapter with a trip to the west siiiiiidee to the Longhorn Corral. It's got to be one of our favorite places to play, and we're looking forward to a fun crowd and a great weekend!  Lisa, Mark, Laura, and the gang will no doubt be there and we look forward to catching up and telling them all about our adventures for the past month or so :-)  Please stop on out for a drink and listen to the tunes... By the way, we'll be playing some of the songs from the new album live at the shows that weekend as well!

On Sunday, we are planning a fun show outside of the Glendale Arena!  Yep...We get to play before the Professional Bullriders Association Rodeo Event!  It's an afternoon of fun with the PBA (yep...Don't call 'em PBR anymore....Apparently, too many issues with the beer company!) and the SEB!  There are a few other bands playing with us earlier in the afternoon and then we start at 2 PM. The pre-rodeo event is sponsored by our friends from AZ Chicks with Picks. They are putting on the event to raise money for the folks affected by the recent tragedy in Haiti. Please stop by and show your support!  Tickets for the PBA event start at just $10 each, and admission to the pre-rodeo show is free (we'll be right outside the arena...you can't miss us!) Stop by for a bit and say hi!

Wow, it's going to be an exciting week for us! Hope to see you at a show soon!

Thanks,

New Photos Posted. Work continues on the new album!

Hello Friends,

Well, the SEB are enjoying a weekend of R & R for once and so we finally had time to get caught up and post some new photos on the site for you to enjoy.  Most of them are from our trip to Nashville last week, but we also added some photos from the Breakfast Show and gig photos from the Longhorn and other venues. We even posted some photos of the infamous "Santa-Mark" and "Brandon-Sasquatch Pose".  :-)  OK, so some of the photos are silly, but they're fun... When you get a chance, check them out and let us know what you think.

On the record front, we're sending the mixes off to be mastered next week and we have a meeting with the graphic designer as well to work on album artwork and photos, etc. Apparently, he does good work and the rumor is he can actually Photo Shop in some hair on Eric's bald head...Can't wait to see it. I think we have a proof photo in the photo list on the site...Ha ha.

We might have a few snippets of the songs available to listen to by early next week. They're not mastered yet, so they'll still have a raw feel, but it'll give you an idea of what the new album will sound like. We're excited to get them up on the web for y'all to enjoy.  We're hoping to start taking preorders for the CD by mid March as well. Keep checking back on the site regularly for details. Also, if you haven't already, please sign up on our email list and we'll send you a download code in March for a free download of one of the tracks from the new album! All for the low, low price of FREE!  We'll also be sending out details via email about our CD release party, etc. Take a moment to sign up or see us at a show and we'll get your email info and add you to the growing list.

This weekend, we're all going to be celebrating with Mike Galli as he is having his engagement party. Please join us in wishing he and his fiance Karen all the best! The big date is planned for April, so we're all getting really excited for him!  Next time you see him, be sure to give him congratulations!

Speaking of next time, we're all headed up the hill next weekend to Flagstaff to play at the Museum Club. It'll be our first time up at the Zoo, so we'd appreciate any support y'all could give us up there!  Maybe we can start a caravan to the Northland. Brandon has been working on his "trucker speak" so he should be able to direct traffic for all of us... Ha Ha. If you can make it up north next weekend, please feel free to join us at the Museum Club. We'd love to see you there :-)

Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend and we'll see you next weekend in Flagstaff...

Back from Nashville...Ready to roll!

Hello Friends,

As sad as it was to leave Nashville, it was nice feeling the plane touch down in Arizona, even if it was kind of a rainy, gloomy evening. We did it!  The recording is finished and we have 12 solid tracks ready to go!  All we need to do now is master it (so you don't have to crank your stereo up to 11 to hear the tracks...although you might want to anyway), get the artwork and photos done (we've all been practicing our "skinny poses" due to some advice from the folks on Good Morning America while we were in Nashville...ha ha)., and get the CD out to the world....We're all really excited to let y'all hear some samples... We're working on putting together a medley of the songs right now to put up on the site for you to hear before the album releases...

Also, we are planning to send all of our email list members a free track before the album is released...Not a member???? Ah, it's easy to join up...And free!  Just sign up on our "One the Road Family" email list on the site or see us at a gig and we'll have you sign up there. As soon as we get the tracks mastered and ready to go, we'll email you a free download code for the track. You'll also have an opportunity to pre-order the CD as well, and we might even bake you cookies or a pie or something ...The point is, we'd love for you to sign up on our email list so we can keep in contact with you and let you know what's happening in the world of us little old SEB's... OK, enough shameless self promotion...

Plans are in the works now for a CD release party this spring...If all goes well, we're going to take care of our Northern Arizona friends in Flagstaff the second week of April and then have a Phoenix release sometime later in April or in May... Hopefully, we'll be able to take care of our Tucson friends too...Porkchop, we'll be bugging you soon enough at KIIM Country, so be ready friend...

Well, now that we're home, it's time to spend some time with family, clean the house, and convince our families to do our laundry for us!  We'll keep you posted as to when the new tunes start showing up on the site...The goal is to have the CD ready by the end of March and available through our website, iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, at shows, out of a truck, or wherever we can find people that will listen to the album and help us pay for the next one :-)

On a side note, we owe y'all a HUGE thank you for helping us get to this point...There are a ton of people to thank for nudging us along, and I think we're going to need to write a small novel of thanks you's on the liner notes for this album! In advance, a huge thank you to everyone that has hopped on the bus with us and joined the adventure that is being a part of the SEB...Hopefully we'll be able to repay everyone with kindness and a great record...and maybe we can actually pay our families back for all of the laundry detergent we've used over the years too.

The SEB are on vacation at home this week, but we'll be headed up to Flagstaff the following weekend to celebrate with our Northern friends at the Museum Club... We're really looking forward to hanging out with the Zoo Crew and enjoying a weekend of live music and cold beverages. Hope you can make it up the hill with us!

Nashville...Day Five

Hello Friends,

Yesterday was another great adventure in Nashville...We slipped into the studio in the morning and started working on all of the small details of the recording. Up first was John Rickard...He layed down some amazing pedal steel and dobro licks on the tunes!  We're looking forward to adding them to the mix today....After lunch (consisting of chicken strips the size of Kentucky from a place called Otter's), we started in on some backing vocals. At the end of the night, we recorded our "hoedown" portion of Country Time...It's going to be fun adding that track to the mix. I hope ya'll enjoy it when you hear it :-)

After we finished up for the night, we made a stop at the Hard Rock Cafe and had dinner...Well, everyone had dinner except Eric, who opted for a fudge brownie/ice cream/18 pounds of chocolate insanity...I think he rotted at least three teeth with each bite.... :-)  We also wandered down to Broadway and stopped it at some of the local bars. There was a crazy hillbilly style country band playing at one of the bars and the place was filled with an odd mix of characters...We didn't think country music could mix with pink mohawks, but somehow it did...Then, it was off to the Stage on Broadway to listen to another regional act Lewis Copeland...The band kind of sounded a bit like Keith Urban crossed with Jake Owen...It was really high energy stuff and they were entertaining to watch...

All in all, it was another great adventure in Nashville...Today we start trhe mixing process on the record and get to figure out what order the songs will be in, etc. It'll be great to hear all of the work we've been doing all week in context... It's kind of strange sometimes recording a simple "ooooohh' or "ahhhh" without having any idea how it sounds against the rest of the song :-)  Let's hope everything comes together well today.

Nashville...Day Four

Hello Friends!

Yesterday was yet another productive day at 16 Ton Studios. Mike Esser was at the helm and he did an amazing job of recording all of the fun stuff we were working on. We started the morning with acoustic rhythms and Stan and Mike were cooped up in the isolation booths for several hours laying down the background acoustic parts.  We also got a visit from Justin "Ban-Jovi" Hitson and his six string "Git-Jo".  Basically, it's a six string version of a banjo that is tuned to standard guitar tuning. You can hear examples of it on a lot of Keith Urban's tracks. Justin layed down some really cool banjo licks on a few of the tunes. It really added to the country vibe of the record...Stpehanie also threw down on a few tasty fiddle tracks, and we were all grinning from ear to ear when she finished!

By mid-afternoon, it was Steph's turn to step up to the mic, and she completed her tracks in record time! I think she set a new record for the fastest vocal tracking session in Nashville history! She sounded AMAZING, and all of us spent most of the afternoon with our jaws dropping as she belted out the lyrics. We also appreciated all of her dance moves in the booth while she was recording...I think J.R. got some video of the adventure and I'm sure we'll get it up on the site soon. Stan took a turn in the mic later that evening on "Be Careful what You Ask For" to round out our first vocal session in the studio...We all enjoyed his "sly dog turning on the charm" sounding vocals on the opening verse. They definitely complimented Stephanie's "you're going to get socked in the mouth" attitude in the second verse...Great contrast :-)  We're all looking forward to tracking the harmonies this morning!

Later in the evening, our friend Marty McKeevor dropped by to lay down some keys. Marty works with Ronnie Milsap, and it was a pleasure to work with him for the afternoon. He kept us in stitches the whole time he was there with his goofy comments and high energy, and his playing made us all tear up a bit that night during playback. It was a wonderful experience!

At the end of the night, Brandon and Josh (from Earl Wear and Haywire) started an impromptu bluegrass jam that ended up getting out of hand...Danny, we promise no Grammy's were injured during the jam :-) It ended up being a nice finish to the session for the day. Thank you Mike Esser for being patient with us...We definitely owe you a dinner and a few brews!

We stopped in for a late dinner at a local pizzaria (and almost got our rental car towed) and then headed home to turn in for the night. Stan and Justin got stopped by the local law enforcement on the way home, but Stan told us that the officers had heard he was in Stephanie's band and they just wanted an autograph...Ha Ha!  Actually, they just wanted to make sure we had the headlights on in the "KITT-esque" rental car...Apparently, you can use the remote control thingy that comes with the car for unlocking the doors and trunk, making toast, starting the car, saving the universe from certain doom, etc...It just isn't smart enough to turn the lights on for you automatically after dark...Ha Ha. Needless to say, the officers were very kind and we were on our way within a few minutes to our pillows for sleepy time.

Looking forward to tracking the backing vocals and pedal steel tracks today!  More updates to come soon!

Nashville...Day Three

Hello Friends,

We finished up our second day of recording yesterday and it was another productive adventure...Stan and Mike spent the bulk of the day working on the electric guitar tracks and Stan pulled some amazing lead licks out of the woodwork. We think he was channeling some rock gods of the past on "Be Careful What You Ask For", some Memphis Blues on "My Heart Won't Leave Me Alone" and a touch of bluegreass on "Happy Ever After". In the meantime, Mike was getting down and dirty on the dlise guitar in the B room. We even borrowed Josh from Earl Wear and Haywire for a track...We nicknamed him "Jofler" (because of the subtle Mark Knofleresque undertones he put on "Be Careful What You Ask For").

Steph and Brandon got to take the afternoon off from the recording process and they got into some misadventures in Nashvegas... Steph actually got to record in the Ryman Auditorium (even if it was only karaoke :-), and she enjoyed every second of it.  Lunchtime came around and a trip to Tootsie's was in order. The band was great, but it was also time to wander over to the Stage to hear some more live music. The band there was fantastic, and the singer sounded like Randy Travis...Grandma would've been impressed :-)

That evening, we met up with some friends of ours from OEO Entertainment that had also recently finished up their album for Adam Smith and were in Nashville for a few days before heading out on tour to the Northeast. He's a cool artist with a definite "indie" vibe. Dinner was delicious and so was the Woodchuck Cider...It was especially delicious for Eric and Brandon, who ended up getting into an "icicle swordfight" and "icicle javelin throwing contest" before turning in for the night.

All in all, it was another productive afternoon for my friendly little SEB's...Looking forward to more adventures in the studio tomorrow (and maybe another batch of tacos from Mammacita's...They were yummy!)

More updates and photos to come...

Nashville...Day Two

Good Morning Friends,

Yesterday was a productive day for us in the studio. We checked into 16 Ton Studios at 9 AM and our friends from Soundcheck had already delivered Brandon's "loaner" drum kit. Mike, Ryan, and the gang met us at the door and they already had most of the gear ready to roll for us. It was a nice way to start our day (other than having to scrape a couple of inches of snow off of the rental car...ha ha). Next on the agenda was a road trip to the Fender Nashville office to pick up a few amps and toys to use in the studio. James was kind enough to loan us all of the amps we needed to get things rolling and he was very accommodating...

The studio was incedibly cool!  Danny had a lot of old gear and photos, etc. lying around the studio. We photographed everything in there...One of the highlights was the jukebox Danny had in the studio break room. It was originally owned by one Mr. Johnny Cash and he had it in his residence for years. He actually signed the jukebox before he sold it...It still works and you can play some of Johnny's favorite 45's on it :-)

Also, Danny has a painting hanging up in his studio that was once above the fireplace of Hank Williams Sr's home!  Danny has it on display along with an old photo of Hank and his family sitting in front of the painting!  Super cool stuff...

By noon, we were ready to start tracking and had everything dialed in...Brandon knocked out all of the drum parts in record time and Eric's basslines were finished by the ednd of the day as well. Mike also layed down some fantastic mando licks. Danny dropped by for awhile and had some funny stories to share about being on the road and snowed in...Our friends form Earl Wear & Haywire dropped by the studio as well to say hi. They'll be recording next week at 16 Ton and they wanted to give a listen...Earl is going to be on America's Got Talent too, so keep your eyeballs peeled for him...

We ended up going out to dinner at South Market, a seafood and BBQ joint near Music Row...Brandon had crab cakes (I think for the first time) and we got to taste a beer brewed locally called Dos Perros. It was yummy!  We ended up heading back to the hotel afterwards for a good night's rest...All in all, it was a wonderful day in the Music City...

Pictures should be coming later today/tonight :-)

Nashville...Day One

Good Morning Friends,

Right now, we are sitting in the lobby of the hotel enjoying the snow on the ground in Nashville. Yep, the Music City greeted us with some of the flaky white stuff...and we're not talking dandruff here :-)

Our first night in Nashville was a fun one...We got into the airport at around 2 PM. Apparently, Brandon had "that guy" sitting next to him during the whole flight. The guy felt like chatting with Brandon all the way to Nashville and slowly started taking over more and more of Brandon's arm rest...And then the sneezing and wheezing started...Needless to say, Brandon didn't get any rest on the plane...Eric was asleep before the plane left the runway... After we landed, Stan met up with Justin and his family and all of us went out for a night on the town...We found a great little "futuristic looking" pizza joint called Pie In The Sky. We say futuristic because they had these weird electrical things on the walls that reacted to your movements...It was like something out of an old Star Trek episode mixed with art...Unusual and interesting...Thankfully, there were no robots around (or Stephanie would have Elvis karate kicked them in the robot face!). The place was neat and the food was fantastic....And we had sweet tea...Mmmmm, the southeast has the best sweet tea on the planet...The AZ may have sun tea down to an art, but nothing beats some good sweet tea.

Our rental car is some fancy schmancy Nissan with a push button starter and this little "key like" thing that opens the doors and trunk (but there's no key for the starter). Being technologically challeneged, Eric asked the nice person behind the rental car for a key, to which she laughed and told us it was an "automatic" start...Sooooooo....Needless to say, Eric walked up to the car and held the "key thing" and started talking to it "Go car...Start car...KITT, I need you, etc." After the people in the lot looked at him like he was crazy, they explained that the push button starter was INSIDE the car. Ahhh! Technology...I love this country!

John, our producer, called around 7 PM and informed us that he was about 300 miles out of Nashville and that he should be in town by midnight... Around 10 PM, he called again and said he was still about 300 miles out of Nashville! Apparently, there were blizzard like conditions throughout the country and his windshield wiper motor had died.  He ended up having to do a "Dumb and Dumber-esque" move and take a windshield cleaner from a gas station, reach his hand outside the car every few miles, and scrape off the ice and snow...I'm sure it was an interesting sight to behold!  He and his trusty guitar player co-pilot (and designated windshield cleaner) finally made it in at about 4:30 this morning...Needless to say, they're still crashed out while the rest of us our sipping hot chocolate and coffee and enjoying the complimentary breakfast at the hotel...We'll get them up later after they de-ice...

We're just about to load in for the morning and get the ball rolling on the recording process...Thankfully, our friends at Fender and Soundcheck will be bringing us some gear to play on in the studio this week, so all we need to do is bring our instruments. Hopefully, we'll be able to drive to the studio this morning and won't have to use our instrument cases as skis.

All in all, it was a great (and eventful) start to our recording adventure...Hopefully, we'll have some photos up of the studio later this afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed that everything goes well this morning!

Leavin...On A Jet Plane...

Good Morning Friends,

Well, the time has come at the SEB are heading to Nashville for our recording session at 16 Ton Studios... It's been a very frantic week getting everything ready for the trip, but it looks like our friends from Soundcheck in Nashville and Fender are going to have drums and amps waiting for us on Monday morning :-)   John is en route and ready to hop behind the board to produce for us, and it's going to be a great week at the studio!

It's 7 AM and the mighty members of the SEB are waiting to hop on the plane... Eric is about three cups of coffee deep and has proceeded to have a 10 minute conversation with EVERYONE in the airport...Stan and Mike have already written three or four new songs in the car on the way to the airport and will probably have album number two in the can before we even touch down in Nashville. Brandon is being assaulted by some guy wearing a Kenny Chesney-esque conch shell necklace who is ocnvinced that his snare drum is some sort of nuc-e-lar device... Steph is sleepwalking through the terminal and enjoying the morning...All in all, it's been a good trip already!

We're all looking forward to hitting up the hotel and taking in the sites this afternoon before retiring for a nice night of sleep... Last night was fantastic at the the Glendale Riders party, but most of us didn't get home until after 1 AM...and 5 AM came REALLY early this morning!  Aren't musicians supposed to be able to sleep until noon?

The gang at the Glendale Riders event were very supportive and they definitely filled up the tip jar, so it looks like we'll be able to afford the occasional trip to Chipotle this week among the Taco Bell and McDonald's runs...Thanks again for listening to our original tunes (and dancing)!

Ahhh, so much to do this week and so many thank yous are needed!  I think we need to do have a small novel on our liner notes this time around! We'll be posting pictures and sych all week, so please check back on the site at www.stephanieeason.com and follow us on our big Nashville adventure... Thanks again to everyone that has made it possible for us to make the musical journey. It's definitely what we were all meant to do

Countdown to Nashville...Part 2!

Hello Friends,

Well, we're just over a week away from the big rod trip to Nashville and all of the plans are pretty much in place. We'll be flying out via private jet (aka Southwest Airlines and the cheapest tickets we could find online...I think Stan will actually be flying the plane as part of his ticket purchase...I mean how different could it be than a gyrocopter, right? :-)  And of course, we'll be staying at only the finest of Days Inns or Motel 6 or whatever else we can find :-)  It's going to be a great week of music and networking.

We met with our producer John this week and he was very excited about beginning the recording process. He liked every one of the songs we had been busy writing over the past few months, so that was a great sign in itself.  We're hoping to line up a few other "special guest" players for the recording as well. Apparently, Robert Reynolds from the Mavericks keeps a lot of his gear on hand at 16 Ton Studios andknows the recording crew very well, so Mike and Stan were salivating at the prospect of using Robert's Rickenbacker on the record...Maybe we'll even get Rob to play on a tune with us!

We'll be bringing cameras and probably some video along so we can document the whole trip and we'll be posting things up every day on the site so you can enjoy the adventure with us!

January was birthday central for the SEB... Stephanie's birthday hit while we were in Coolidge at the Goose. The rest of the SEB's got her a kid's karaoke superstar stage to practice in front of at home (complete with microphone, 5 foot tall stage, and speaker system), I'm sure we'll be seeing that set up around the Eason "estate" (OK...Apartment, but estate sounds so much cooler, don't you think?) soon. Stan celebrated his birfday the following week at the Goose and Eric's was last weekend at San Tan Flat. Steph tried to get Eric an invisibility cloak (it's not a cape dang it!), but unfortunately it was hidden amongst the rubble of her "estate" (and it was invisible silly, how could she see it anyway?)

Speaking of San Tan, we just want to send a HUGE thank you to the folks that support us there every time we play there. We sold out of demo CD's last weekend by the end of the first set and had many more people asking us for additional CD's. Your support is SOOOOOO appreciated and Tom definitely runs a great restaurant and venue for bands!  Thanks again for making our job fun!

This week, we've got some fun shows lined up. We're heading to Tom Ryan's to get the weekend started a little early on Thursday night. If you've never been to Tom Ryan's, it's a great place to dance any night of the week. A lot of our good friends play there regularly (Urban Country, Chad Freeman & Redline, etc.) so you can always expect good entertainment on the weekends. We're going to sneak some original material in with your favorite covers (so we can etst them out on you before recording in Nashville). Hope you'll join us for some fun that night...

This weekend, we head up to Prescott for our first foray into the magical world that is Whisky Row...Yep, we're going to be playing all weekend at Matt's Saloon! It's always been one of our favorite places to hang out in Prescott and now we're getting to play the venue!  We'll be camped out at Stan's chateau in the woods all weekend working up harmonies and a few new tunes (and curling up next to the wood burning stove in Stan's living room....Ooooohhh it keeps you so warm and cozy!).  We'll also be working on final pre-production for the new CD. Oh, yeah, and that whole Super Bowl thing is happening this weekend too if you're into that sort of thing,,,Ha Ha

Anyhow, it's going to be a great week of live music in Chandler and Prescott and we do hope you'll join us for some fun.

One final note, if you haven't signed up on our email list yet, please take a moment to join our on the road family. As soon as the record is finished, we plan on sending out a tune or two for free for our email list members before the CD releases to the public, so it'll be your chance to enjoy the record before anyone else on the block does...You can sign up from just about any page on our website, so please take a moment to do so!  Thanks again for all of your support and we'll see you at a show soon!

    • As a member of the Stephanie Eason Fan Club Buckeye Chapter. The chapter all says "Come Baaaaaaaaaaack" we miss you. It wasn't any fun without you guys last night. You play the best dance music and we had some new moves to try out and just didn't have the right music for it.

Truly we did miss you and can't wait to meet up with you in two weeks in Prescott.

    • Love the new site! Can't wait to see you guys again soon
